A road map for transformation from conventional to photovoltaic energy generation and its challenges.

In this introductory paper of this special issue, I will outline the basic principles that may govern the transformation from the conventional to the renewable photovoltaic energy supply. Based on the developed concepts, a transformation road map is proposed that describes the transformation could be realized in 40–45 years. The final issue treated in this paper is the proposed generic photovoltaic power system and its components. The scope of the published papers in this special issue is put within the frame work of this generic system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
