Abstract
- The article focuses on optical synchronous code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems. CDMA is a multiple access protocol that is efficient with low traffic and has zero access delay. Especially direct detection optical CDMA systems have been investigated widely to apply for highspeed local area networks, because they allow multiple users to access the network simultaneously. In the transmitter and receiver, low-cost devices with high cost performance and high reliability, such as Fabry-Perot laser diode and avalanche and pin photodiodes, are available.
