Abstract
- Exercise and sports participation are gauges that many transplant patients use to measure their return to a more normal, active life. For other patients, a transplant enables them to become well enough to seek the benefits of exercise— for the first time in their lives. A Showcase for Transplant Athletes. Though there are limited data on the number of transplant recipients who exercise or play sports, the increased participation in transplant sports events may provide one snapshot of activity in this group. Though she eagerly anticipated being active, Marcy Weiner said she was surprised when her transplant physician recommended exercise as part of her post-transplant health plan.
