Abstract

Protected natural areas are based on the low level of human activity on their territory, being the best models for natural and semi-natural ecological systems. The diversity and biodiversity encountered in Maramures resulted in the designation of 59 protected natural areas, with an area of 2452.2 km², which represents 38.91% of the total area of Maramures. As objectives, we intend to track the impact of wind breaks that took place in Maramures in the protected areas, the imbalances created on the protected areas surface, but also the impact on the habitats and priority species. The area where the study was conducted are the forests ofMaramures and for the achievement of the proposed objectives, we combined the field research, the office ones, as well as a study at the Forestry and Maramures Environmental Protection Agency. In order to better understand the current state of the problem, we have referred to specialized articles, some research reports and some statistics produced by the Forestry Owls in Maramures. As a result of the researches carried out, we have found imbalances in the protected natural areas of Maramures, created by massive tree fells due to the extreme climatic phenomen that occurred in September 2017. On an area of about 25,000 ha the wind blows landed thousands of areas of forests, largely within the protected areas. As a result of the assessments carried out, disturbances of some habitats have been detected and these species have been destroyed, and the species within the habitats have been forced to adapt to the situation or to refuge in other habitats. To avoid long-term effects, it is necessary to completely remove the affected wood mass. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
