Abstract

The article discusses highlights of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' March 2019 report on Employer Costs for Employee Compensation. Among others, the report says that benefits comprise 29.9% of total compensation among private industry workers, while government employees receive both higher benefits and wages than private industry workers. The report also showed that the largest single benefit-cost category is health insurance, followed by legally required benefits, then paid leave.
