The path of political development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the past four decades of reform and opening up.

With forty-year reform and opening-up, the Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have gradually found a path of socialist political development that suits the national conditions. Its development process is divided into four stages: initial exploration, maintenance of stability, steady progress and entering a new era. China's great achievements in political development include seven aspects: rich political theories, stable politics, gradually sound political system, orderly expansion of political participation, significant enhancement of party's governance capacity, rapid development of political culture, and remarkable achievements in the rule of law. The basic experiences of China's political development are shown in five aspects: upholding the unity of the leadership of the party, the position of the people as master of the country and the rule of law as the most important and crucial basic experience; being based on China's national conditions and adhering to the direction of socialist development; persisting in theoretical innovation, emancipating our mind and seeking truth from facts, keeping pace with the times, and blazing new trails in a pioneering spirit; pushing forward the reform of China's political system and adhering to the correct strategy of political development; integrating China's political development into the strategic layout of the four all-round and "five-in-one of" socialism with Chinese characteristics. So a careful review on the achievements and the basic experiences of China's reform and opening up over the forty years conscientiously can be of great significance in the determination of the political development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the continuation of political restructuring.
