Abstract
- A minor incident in a small rural elementary school which took place six years ago, has led Ohio employers to exercise extreme caution before discharging an employee who has been injured on the job. A lawsuit arising from the incident prompted a recent unanimous opinion of the Ohio Supreme Court, which reversed long-established policy in the state by holding that employers could be required to keep injured workers on their payrolls indefinitely, even if the workers never set foot in the workplace again.
