Abstract

The paper proposes an improvement of coding performance for a color image compression scheme based on the adaptive orthogonalized transform (AOT). The paper proposes that the performance of the coder will be accelerated by reducing the dictionary size to 25% and by maintaining the approximation gain of the LBG algorithm by virtue of the fact that the AOT increases the approximation gain of the dictionary. The effectiveness of the proposal is confirmed by numerical experiments. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
