Zusammenfassung Das mediale Kollateralband ist der primäre Stabilisator im Sprunggelenk. Verletzungen des medialen Kollateralbandes sind häufiger als bisher angenommen und werden dennoch häufig übersehen. In der Folge kann es zu chronischen Schmerzen, Instabilitäten und Arthrosen kommen. Eine besondere anatomische Beziehung besteht zum Spring Ligament. Bereits Anamnese und klinische Untersuchung können Hinweise auf Verletzungen des medialen Kollateralbandes liefern. Das MRT gilt als Diagnostik der Wahl. Die Therapie richtet sich auch nach den Begleitverletzungen und reicht von Ruhigstellung im Gips über Bandnaht bis hin zur Bandrekonstruktion mittels freiem Sehnentransplantat. Abstract The deltoid ligament is the primary stabilizer of the ankle joint. Injuries of the deltoid ligament are more frequent than assumed but still are often missed. Inadequate treatment can lead to chronic pain, instability and ankle arthritis. The deltoid ligament is strongly connected to the spring ligament. Patient history and clinical assessment as well as magnetic resonance imaging help identify the injured structures.
