Abstract
- The article traces the presence in Saint-Domingue of three Franco-Irish plantation owners, O'Gorman, O'Rourke and Fitzgerald, in the winter of 1802, in the final stages of the Haitian Revolution. Topics discussed include how these men of Irish descent live through the years of revolutionary conflict that resulted in the defeat of the French, British and Spanish armies by the formerly enslaved and the Haitian declaration of independence on January 1, 1804, and what happened to their descendants.
