Abstract

The article reports that Lieutenant Colonel George Custer and his lead scout crawled through snow to the crest of a ridge overlooking the Washita River valley in Roger Mills County. Topics include considered that Medicine Lodge Treaty of 1867 assigned the Cheyenne lands between the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers in Oklahoma along with clothing, stipends for food and supplies, and access to prime hunting areas in southern Kansas.
