Abstract

The article discusses the use of socially engaged art (SEA) as social practice in art education in the U.S. It reflects on the experience of a group of university art education students who created two socially engaged art (SEA) projects called Project Unway and Project Unity in the hallways of a middle school. The challenges for social practice in art education are explored, including space and budgetary restraints and the perceived value of activities.
