Abstract
- The present clinical research was carried out in two groups of cattle to evaluate Midazolam (group I) and Guaifenesin (group II) as an adjunct to Xylazine - Ketamine induction and Isoflurane maintenance anaesthesia in cattle. The anaesthetic parameters and quality of anaesthesia were assessed. The result revealed that the animals in both the groups had smooth and reliable induction. There was no significant difference between both the groups in induction time, total sternal recumbency and unassisted standing. Excessive salivation, moderate tympany and regurgitation were the anaesthetic complications encountered in four animals premedicated with Midazolam. To conclude, the adjunct action of Glyceryl guaiacolate with Xylazine, Ketamine and Isoflurane was found superior than the addition of Midazolam in the anaesthetic protocol as an adjunct [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
