- The article discusses a debate in the province of Québec about whether a secular state should require teachers to not wear religious symbols while working. Topics include the notion of state neutrality regarding religion in relation to freedom of conscience, the notion of state autonomy, and professional ethics for teachers in relation to wearing religious symbols.
