Abstract
- Although incomplete contacts can never shake down to a completely adhered state, the self-development of residual frictional shearing tractions can reduce significantly the size of the slip zone. This phenomenon is demonstrated using the Hertz-Cattaneo contact. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
