Abstract

Although Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology can overcome some constraints that traditional manufacturing suffers from, there are still significant challenges that stem from the lack of the repeatability and the traceability in the process. Since the interactions between the process parameters are complex, one solution to overcome these hinders is to efficiently select a number of parameters to focus on during the manufacturing phase based on their influence on the final part. These useful parameters will be modeled as ‘’Key Characteristics (KC)”. In this paper, we discuss the conceptualization and modeling of KCs to effectively overcome quality-related defects in AM value chain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
