Abstract

The authors discuss the relationship between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). They mention the inflammatory nature of both diseases, the imbalance of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines that may be a cause for both diseases, and the need to screen RA patients for periodontal issues with extra care.
