Abstract

The paper focuses on the development of an article's focus. An article with a unique, timely focus is one that the author can write relatively easily, the reviewer recommends as a high-priority acceptance and the editor considers as a "feature" article. Successful author spend considerable time developing the article's focus before writing. The author of this article, an experienced editor and author, distinguishes between an article's category, topic and focus. The author of this article provides guidelines that authors can use to develop a manuscript's focus, the reviewer can use to recommend revisions, and the editor can use to determine what to delete to tighten a manuscript to the primary focus.
