Abstract
- A study published in the 2004 issue of the journal "Cytokine" and conducted by researcher J. Garcia-Herrera and colleagues, states that tumor necrosis factor-alpha reduced D-fructose intestinal transport in rabbits. According to this study from Spain, "Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is an important immunoregulatory cytokine involved in septic responses during bacterial infection. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of TNF-alpha on the transport of D-fructose across rabbit jejunum. A sepsis condition was evoked by intravenous administration of this cytokine and hematological and plasma parameters were analyzed and body temperature was recorded. D-Fructose transport was assayed in rabbit jejunum."
