High sugar intake linked to raised risk of common mental disorders.

Abstract

The article reports that a study in Great Britain has revealed link between common mental disorders in men and increased use of high sugar intake. It reveals that diets high in sugar may result in insulin resistance and obesity, which can cause low self-esteem and depression. It asked participants to fill up the 30-item General Health Questionnaire on several occasions, with common mental disorder (CMD) defined as a GHQ score more than or equal to 5.
