Abstract

The article discusses a study by researchers from the University of Washington and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on factors that facilitate or inhibit patients in accessing online portals to review their clinicians' notes. Findings showed that while reading their doctors' notes has the potential to engage patients in quality of care, a minority of patients fear that finding these notes will be more confusing than helpful. Issues on privacy was also found to be an inhibiting factor.
