A PROFILE OF THE VIRGINIA WOOLF SOCIETY OF JAPAN.

On May 15, 1979, the first issue of "The Newsletter" of Virginia Woolf Society of Japan was published. One year and a half before, Japanese scholars had begun to organize seminar meetings every other month in Tokyo for the purpose of establishing the Society. Since then, Ineko Kondo, Professor Emeritus of Tsuda Juku University, has been president. In 1984, after four issues of "The Newsletter," it was decided to publish "The Virginia Woolf Review" every year in which the members submit their papers and book reviews, and, when a bibliography of studies of author Virginia Woolf in Japan and a list of the members are available.
