Abstract

With the increase in need for anesthesia services outside the operating room, nonoperating room personnel are exposed to situations unique to the surgical environment. Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is an inherited genetic disorder that is triggered specifically by drugs and gases used to induce and maintain anesthesia. If left untreated, this disorder can progress into a cascade of events that can ultimately lead to death. The purpose of this review is to provide radiology and imaging personnel with the knowledge to assist anesthesia providers in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of MH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
