Abstract

The article focuses on the study conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) regarding the effect of unconventional oil and gas production in drinking water resources in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. Topics discussed include identification of methane and benzene in drinking water wells, usefulness of methane and benzene presence in groundwater to evaluate where the hydrocarbons were from, and occurence of microbial sources in shallow depth water than deep shale gas.
