Abstract

Based on the results of unconfined compression tests of chloride soil stabilized by Portland cement (PC) and a new self-made solid waste stabilizer KC, which the KC was mixed by a certain proportion of ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS), pozzolan and carbide slag, the effect of KC on the strength of stabilized chloride soil was studied, and X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA) were used to analyze the stabilized soil. The results show that the new solid waste stabilizer KC is applied to stabilized chloride soil, the strength of KC stabilized chloride soils were much higher than that of PC stabilized ones. A new hydration product-- 3CaO⋅Al<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>3</subscript>⋅CaCl<subscript>2</subscript>⋅10H<subscript>2</subscript>O (AFm-Cl) was formed by the reaction with NaCl and KC in KC stabilized chloride soils, the solid-phase volume of AFm-Cl expanded during its formation and filled up the pores in stabilized soil, which was one of important reasons that cause the strength of KC stabilized chloride soils significantly enhancing.
