Abstract

Opened in 2007 by the founders of discreetly luxurious landmarks Auberge du Soleil and Calistoga Ranch, the more casual but still cosseting Solage was meant to be the Calistoga flagship of a new line of hotels and resorts. Instead, it left the Auberge fold altogether in 2014. Last fall, a joint venture of Auberge Resorts and the owners of tony Carneros Inn, among other luxe lodgings, reacquired the 89-cottage resort, renowned for its self-applying spin on mud baths, thermal waters and Michelin-starred Solbar restaurant - all enjoyable during this cooler, rainy off-season.
