Abstract

Evolution of the proton induced luminescence has been examined in CdS layers and ZnSe crystals during exposure to a 1.6 MeV proton beam. The scintillation characteristics of the ZnSe and CdS measured using the identical regimes have been compared. The difference of the carrier pair generation mechanisms inherent for light and for a proton beam has been revealed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
