Abstract
- Location-Based Online Social Networks (LBSNs) are one type of many communications technologies for which users are developing new social norms. This paper examines the case of one LBSN, Foursquare, to better understand conflicts between different approaches to the use of this type of platform. Foursquare users had two main approaches to the platform, exemplified by digital flaneurs and third place regulars. While digital flaneurs have an individualistic approach to the platform, third place regulars use it foster deeper place-based social connections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
