Abstract

The article explores the effect of sports clothing made with Resistex yarn on the performance of an athlete. Product referred to is a yarn known as Resistex, made up of a special continuous filament of conductive material based on carbon and textile fibers. Fibers yield antistatic properties and enables the material to dissipate the electrical charges that build up as a result of tribo-electricity as cloth rubs against skin. Electrical charges tend to stiffen muscles and may contribute to cramps and fatigue. Material offers protection against ultraviolet rays, making it ideal for those who engage in outdoor sports like cycling, running, tennis, and so forth. Sports jerseys made of Resistex have been proven effective in improving athletic performance, especially in disciplines that call for prolonged effort or involve high-temperature environments. Laboratory experiments have demonstrated that, for a given quantity of muscle work produced by an athlete, a Resistex uniform allows for more efficient evaporation of sweat. Normal performance-related parameters, such as heart rate, ventilation, and lactic-acid concentration proved lower when the same athletes were wearing the Resistex uniform than when the 100% polyester uniform was worn.
