Abstract

Impacted tooth is one of the common problems encountered in the dental office. Impacted tooth is a tooth that has failed to erupt in to the oral cavity beyond its chronological age. It can give rise to many situations such as pericoronitis, Development of pathology and destruction of adjacent tooth and surrounding bone. Many clinicians advocate prophylactic removal of third molar to avoid possible future problems. However this practice appears debatable. In this article, we review the various aspects of prophylactic removal of third molar. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
