Abstract

The article presents a profile of Italian Renaissance composer Cipriano de Rore in honor of the 500th anniversary of his birth. Madrigals composed by de Rore in the 16th century are examined and the influence of de Rore on the music of composers including Claudio Monteverdi, Alessandro Romano and Barnaba Cerbo is described.
