Abstract
- This work presents a numerical study of combustion enhancement using a repetitive pulsed plasma actuator. A large-eddy simulation turbulence model is considered to investigate the nonpremixed turbulent combustion of methane-air flow. The baseline case shows agreement with published numerical data. Based on recent studies, it is assumed that the repetitive pulsed actuators are able to create acoustic perturbations for flow control. Numerical results show that induced acoustic perturbations may enhance chemical reactions and result in modification of the flame shape. These numerical results may be useful for the design and improvement of a coaxial jet combustor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
