Abstract

A biography of lawyer Bascom Lamar Lunsford is presented. He was born on March 21, 1882 in North Carolina and was encouraged by his parents to memorize poetry, tell stories, sing songs and play musical instruments. Bascom made banjo his primary instrument. He enrolled himself at North Carolina's Trinity College Law School. He married Nellie Triplett and joined the Methodist church of her family. His book "It's Fun to Square Dance" based on Appalachian square dancing is discussed.
