Abstract

The article focuses on the attacks on media and muzzling of the press in Turkey. On November 26, 2015 the editor-in-chief Can Dundar and the Ankara bureau chief of "Cumhuriyet," Turkey's oldest newspaper, were detained because they had published articles and videos alleging that Turkey's intelligence agency smuggled weapons to jihadists in Syria. Moreover,it currently blocks about 106,000 websites and this year, many Kurdish and left-wing news sites in particular have been targeted.
