Abstract

The article discusses the three important social problems in the coal mining industry in China which include corruption, work safety, and environmental damage, and examines the determinants and state solutions of each problem. Topics include the expansion of coal production in the country to correspond its economic growth, the main coal producing provinces have become the place for corruption, often reflects conflict of interest between different societal groups or government levels, and the devastating effect of coal mining on environment, like encroaching on agricultural land.
