Abstract
- The article offers brief information on Milman Parry, Greek and Latin professor at Harvard University, and his interpretations of ancient Greek poetry "Iliad" and "Odyssey". Topics discussed include his journey to Yugoslavia in 1930 to prove that poems of Homer were based on oral verses, discovery of real culture by Parry and discipline of oral studies and argument of classicist Eric Havelock on invention of alphabets by Geeks being the reason of shift from oral culture.
