Abstract
- The article discusses the retired venture capitalist Gregg Bemis' claim that Ireland financed efforts to prevent research into the 1915 shipwreck of the Lusitania of Ireland's coast from the 1980s through the early 21st century. An overview of the refusal of the Irish government's Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht (DAHG) to issue Bemis a license to conduct underwater research on the shipwreck is provided. The role that the Lusitania's exporting and importing of explosives played in its sinking is discussed.
