Abstract

The article reports on a study which compares the efficacy, reliability, and side effects of ketamine-xylazine (KX), ketamine-xylazine-atropine (KXA), and tiletamine-zolazepam (TZ) immobilization in wild Verreaux's sifakas. It states that induction was smooth but showed variation in duration when animals had received KXA, Immobilization, recovery and heart rate measurement lasted longer with TZ than with KX and KX produces good and short, immobilizations and shorter recovery phase.
