Abstract

The article discusses the role that fault plays in the division of premarital property in America in cases where marriage does not ensue, and it mentions ownership rights over engagement and wedding bands given in anticipation of marriage. U.S. property, contract, and family laws are addressed, along with the legal aspects of gifts given in contemplation of marriage. Breach-of-promise lawsuits and damages are examined, as well as American courts, fairness, and justice.
