Abstract
- The article discusses the medieval Sanguinacci banking family of Padua, Italy. In particular, it describes their rise to prominence via financial means such as the offering of loans at interest or in terms of medieval law usury. Among other topics addressed are the founding of the family by the doctor Giovanni Sanguinacci, the use of wills to maintain properties within the family, and controversies or legal cases related to its financial support of universities and church facilities within Padua.
