Abstract
- The article reports on a study concerning the hydrodynamic performance of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT). Topics discussed include the use of a cylindrical spar platform and a heave plate platform to study the hydrodynamic force and motion response of FOWTs, the use of potential theory and Morison formulation to compute the hydrodynamic performance difference between the two types of spar platforms and the viscous force produced by the heave plate.
