Abstract
- The article offers information on sowing and growing winter green manures such as rye or westerwolds which prevent soil erosion, produce a large amount of biomass for soil improvement, and accumulate nitrogen. It mentions that winter green manures also suppress weeds, particularly those which germinate in low temperatures such as annual meadowgrass and chickweed. Also discussed is the management, suitable soils, and nutrient requirements of winter green manures.
