Abstract
- The article offers information on the purpose, benefits and threats of the governmental surveillance programs conducted by the federal internal intelligence organizations such as the National Security Agency under the provisions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978. It analyzes the role of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA Court) in balancing national security and privacy interests of the U.S. with reference to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986.
