DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED IN ESTABLISHING PARAMETERS FOR GLOBAL MONITORING OF ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA OF SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Highlight the social and environmental performance of a company presents itself as an activity of paramount importance and complexity. The society has been demanding, increasingly, the largest share of industrial sector in social actions in this regard. This work was aimed at seeking, searching in a medium-sized company in the petrochemical industry, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, where the real difficulties for the establishment of a comprehensive indicator to show the real performance of company in the social environment. Research has shown that within the company visited there is a concern both to the environmental performance but also to participate in activities in the area of social responsibility. In the case of the environmental area the company is concerned to control the macro parameters without comparing them to their productive capacity, which makes it difficult for the reader understanding the actual environmental performance. In the case of social programs, there is a guide for showing the commitment of the company in this segment, which calls for the construction and implementation of specific indicators to analyze and measure organizational performance.
