Abstract

The flattening deformation in the process of cross wedge rolling hollow parts increases the difficulty of forming. Based the finite element method, flat plate compression of solid part and hollow part was compared, and flattening deformation characteristic of hollow part was investigated with the major impact factors of reduction and relative wall thickness. On the basis of simulating the process of two-roll cross wedge rolling solid and hollow part, the reason that flattening deformation deteriorates the rotation condition of hollow part, its influence on the rolling process and forming result was analyzed. Furthermore, a method was proposed to improve the forming conditions. Through rolling experiment it was verified that flattening deformation brings on the poor rotation condition and oval of the hollow parts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
