Abstract

The article focuses on true threats cases involving threatening internet communications in the U.S with reference to the U.S Supreme Court's decision in the First Amendment case Virginia v. Black that addressed issues related to criminalization of true threats. It discusses the true threats doctrine and its application to different modes of communication, the certiorari granted by the Supreme Court in true threats case Elonis v. United States that involved unprotected speech.
