The article presents the Mill Buyers Panel at the 2014 Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference. Panel members included Andrew Kern of Smurfit Kappa, Chris Villano of Wausau Paper, and Jerry Donahue of Huhtamaki Inc.They discussed the impact of rising transportation costs on paper companies, the extent by which mill operators are exploring how to recycle the plastic and metal screened out, and the problem posed by the decline in accompanying education for residential recycling programs.
