Abstract
- The article reports on the popularity of in-home technologies that are being deployed to help elderly people maintain their independence, while providing peace of mind to loved ones who want to check in with them in a non-intrusive manner. Companies such as Lively, CarePredict and Giraff Technologies AB have developed systems that use data fed from sensors located in the home to track activity patterns of seniors. The financial benefit of using technology to detect problems before they become emergency situations is the main driver of the solutions.
