Abstract
- This study presents the results of the synthesis of silver chloride nanoparticles dispersed within ammonium nitrate matrix via displacement mechanochemical reaction NH<subscript>4</subscript>Cl + AgNO<subscript>3</subscript> + zNH<subscript>4</subscript>NO<subscript>3</subscript> = (z+1)NH<subscript>4</subscript>NO<subscript>3</subscript> + AgCl at z = z<subscript>1</subscript> = 7:22 and z = z<subscript>2</subscript> = 3:64. The intermediate compound, NH<subscript>4</subscript>Ag(NO<subscript>3</subscript>)<subscript>2</subscript>, was identified after mechanochemical processing of studied system. Use of simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry provide a new means for preparing silver chloride nanoparticles in their free form by thermal treatment.
