The article presents a critical review of the incidence of presentations to emergency departments (ED) among patients with palliative care needs. The researchers studied one article that provided an incidence density for non-small cell lung cancer patients and two articles about patients known to palliative care services. They believed that the lack of data about the incidence of ED presentations prevents the creation of an evidence-based policy for patients with palliative care needs.
